The National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) is an Institution of National Importance established under the National Forensic Sciences University Act, 2020, by the Government of India and functioning under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Established as a flagship institution to strengthen the criminal justice system, national security, and public safety, NFSU is the world’s first and only university dedicated exclusively to Forensic Sciences, Investigative Sciences, Cyber and Information Security, Behavioural Sciences, and other allied domains. Through its multidisciplinary and practice-oriented approach, NFSU plays a pivotal role in advancing forensic education, research, innovation, and professional capacity building at national and global levels. With a strong emphasis on academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and real-world applications, NFSU has emerged as a global leader in specialized scientific education. The University maintains close collaborations with law enforcement agencies, judiciary, forensic science laboratories, intelligence agencies, and investigative bodies, ensuring a unique integration of academics, high-end research, consultancy, and professional training. Today, NFSU has an expanding footprint with 15 campuses in total, 14 across India and 1 international campus in Jinja, Uganda, with several more campuses planned to further strengthen the forensic ecosystem across the country.
Originally established in 2008 as the Gujarat Forensic Science University (GFSU) by the Government of Gujarat, the institution was elevated to national status in 2020, reflecting its growing academic stature, national relevance, and contribution to forensic and security sciences. This transformation marked a new era, positioning NFSU as a central pillar in India’s forensic and investigative capacity- building framework.
The NFSU Raipur Campus represents a significant step in extending the University’s vision to Central India. The campus was inaugurated on 22 June 2025 by the Hon’ble Union Home Minister of India, in the august presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and senior dignitaries from the Government of India and the Government of Chhattisgarh. Following its inauguration, the campus commenced academic operations from its transit location at Block E, Government Engineering College (GEC), Sejbahar, Raipur (C.G.).
At present, the Raipur Campus offers specialized programmes including M.Sc. Forensic Science, M.Sc. Digital Forensics and Information Security, and a Professional Diploma in Crime Scene Management, providing students with a strong foundation in both theoretical concepts and hands-on practical training. These programmes are designed to meet the evolving needs of forensic laboratories, law enforcement agencies, and the criminal justice system.
To address the growing national demand for skilled professionals in forensic, cyber, and security domains, the campus is set to introduce several new academic programmes from the academic year 2026–27. These include the B.Sc.–M.Sc. Integrated Programme in Forensic Science, B.Tech.–M.Tech. Integrated Programme in Cyber Security, M.Sc. Cyber Security, M.Sc. Forensic Psychology, and MBA in Forensic Accounting. In addition, the launch of the Ph.D. Programme from the next academic session will promote advanced research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration in emerging and critical areas of forensic science.

Supported by modern laboratories, state-of-the-art infrastructure, experienced faculty, and an industry-driven curriculum, NFSU Raipur is poised to evolve as a leading centre for forensic, cyber, and investigative sciences in Central India, contributing significantly to national development, internal security, and scientific advancement.
